Parada Named 2025 NJCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine Recipient
PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Jorge Parada of South Mountain has been named the recipient of the 2025 NJCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.
Parada is the only NJCAA Division II golfer with a 2024-25 scoring average below 70 (69.3). The Hermosillo, Mexico, native has compiled 11 top-three finishes in 12 tournaments with five victories to lead the second-ranked Cougars. He began his collegiate career as co-medalist at the NJCAA Division I-hosted ENMU-Ruidoso High Country Shootout and a four-stroke victory at the PVCC Fall Invitational. After winning a tiebreaker over teammate Randy Weis at the Thunderbird Classic to close the fall, Parada has strung together eight consecutive top-three finishes heading into this week’s NJCAA Division II Championship. Parada, ranked second via Scoreboard powered by Clippd, won the Chandler-Gilbert CC Spring Tournament on April 3 by two shots and the NJCAA Region I Division II Championship on April 24 by six shots en route to ACCAC Player of the Year honors.
Gabriele Bravin of Heartland, Adam Croix of South Mountain, Joseph Duckworth of Meridian, and Shashank Koirala of Murray State (OK) joined Parada on the All-Freshman team.
